We would like to give you a brief introduction regarding God's ministry performed through Victory Nursery & Primary School in Kakillan Chavavdi, Sanatorium, Tambaram, Chennai, India.
We would first like to put things in perspective and give you a little history about the community we are ministering to. The wonderful people who live in this area are mostly laborers and day-wage earners and do not have any prior knowledge about the Good News of Jesus. Therefore, our ministry strategy has been twofold – Evangelistic & Educational. We have pioneered a door to door evangelism in this area (covering 3 neighboring villages as well) and a vibrant Church has been planted and growing since August, 1999. From within this Church was birthed the vision to start a school that would give a quality Christian education for the un-reached and under-privileged children of this area.
We all know that it is a dream for every parent to give their children a ‘good education’, however, sending their kids to an English medium Primary school usually stays just as a dream for many poor Indian parents since it would cost them a fortune to accomplish this.
So in 2002, by faith, Victory Nursery & Primary School was established in this community. The school has Pre KG, LKG, UKG and Std 1-5. A very talented Headmistress along with a team of 6 other trained teachers and educators efficiently teach the children. Along with basic education, the students have regular Bible teachings by the way of songs, stories and Christian love.
The Government of Tamil Nadu in order to clamp down on sub standard private schools had imposed strict rules and regulations since 2004. Since our School meets all these regulations, it is recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Being well aware about the financial strength of the community, we have kept the fees structure to the minimum of Rs.80 to 140 (Approximately US $ 2 – 3.5) per month. The special fees with Text books, exercise books, uniforms, shoes would be ranging from Rs.1700 to 2100 (Approximately US $ 43 – 53). With our past experience we have found out that even this is difficult for the parents to pay and we often assist them financially, especially during the beginning of the academic year by providing free text books, exercise books & uniforms.
In this academic year also we plan to provide free books and uniforms and reduce the fees structure for all the students. This would give an opportunity for many children to receive the blessings of good Christian education.
Though we provide a lot of benefits for the students, we never compromise on the quality of the teachers and educators we have on roll. For qualified & experienced teachers we ensure that the pay structure is high.
